My friend Beck and I are quite taken with the word "vignette".
We did some serious homewares browsing a couple of weeks ago and were most comforted by the abundance of vignettes. All is right with the world.
I'm also quite partial to tablescaping and fully intend to add the suffix "-scaping" at every opportunity depending on my mood. Truly, no longer do you need to suffer the indignity of clutter. Just call it a vignette or a tablescape and you'll feel so much better about things.
For example, at the moment I have a delightful vignette of limp vegetables in my fridgescape. See? It's gold.
In the meantime, here is a lovely vignette I prepared earlier:
Beck also has these birds, but she lives in another state, so it's like, totally, allowed. Also, they remind me of her and our mutual adoration of homeware vignettes and tablescaping products.
Following my post from yesterday, life at base camp is infinitely more bearable if you can surprise yourself with a little vignette here and there.
Love you more than my pillowscape,
Meredy xo

Dear Meredy,
ReplyDeleteI also LOVE the term ' shabby chic ' as that can also hide a multitude of sins !! I have a beautiful ' vignette ' in my wardrobe and another one next to the washing machine !!!! haha
You really made me laugh this morning with this post !! XXXX
Oh very comforting, Meredith. I have an unscaped coffee table at present in my sitting room, indeed it's the first thing people see when they walk in the door, but now I'll be able to wave it off airily - "don't mind my vignette, Ermintrude, dear; this way to the wine-rack, please."
ReplyDeletemarvelous! Thanks for the smile.
ReplyDeleteI do vignettes but need to work out exactly what the mouldscape is in the fridge at the moment... mouldy chic, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful!! All the guilt I have been harbouring about our 'lived-in' look - now vanished in that magical metamorphosis to 'vignette'!!! Thank you thank you thank you!
